Re: Mistaking Appropriation for Love

This deep, ancient mistake of ours. Mixing things up, stumbling in our confusion of attraction with our everlasting desire to possess/have/be what is found glittering outside the self; mistaking that mimic act of appropriation for love.

Understandable I suppose, as it’s how we learn & grow: mimicking.

There is a mashup of impulses for us in the possessive desire of appropriation with the attraction that might weave into the bonding of love. Appropriation, even as practiced by those of us with garden variety, quasi- unconscious tendencies, & the layered, complicated, oft unnamable shiftings of love within us are entangled, are often at war for our affection.

Can we step away from the crossfire?

But do not be mistaken. Appropriation sucks life from the desired/coveted. That’s the point, to hijack the energetic of one for another’s purposes. Whereas love gives life. Understandable I suppose, our fight against this comprehension, seeing as how, at end, we must let go of one another.

What if we could practice co-operation? What if love’s empathetic comprehension of one another is/could become our go to/default impulse?

An opening hand.
